SOCOTHYD is a public economic enterprise (EPE) created by interministerial decree on April 17, 1970. It is incorporated as a joint stock company (SPA) with a share capital of 1,170,000,000.00 DA and more than 500 employees.
The company is part of the ALGERIA CHEMICAL SPECIALITIES “ACS” group, which was created on November 19, 2015, following the recent restructuring of industrial groups.
SOCOTHYD is organized as a single unit comprising two (02) sites:
The Issers site
which includes the company's head office and the manufacturing workshops for dressing products (cotton, gauze, plaster bandages, adhesive tape, and crepe bandages
The Bordj Menaiel site
which includes the manufacturing workshops for personal hygiene products
Since its creation in 1970, the company has developed its commercialized products in order to face competition and meet the needs of consumers who are increasingly demanding in terms of quality, packaging, price, etc.
In 2002, SOCOTHYD began manufacturing plaster strips for orthopedic use and now covers 80% of the domestic market's needs.
In 2014, the company acquired new equipment for manufacturing medical adhesive tape in various models.
In 2015, the company began manufacturing crepe bandages in various sizes.
In 2017, the company decided to expand its product range by marketing new surgical medical consumables, namely: non-woven protective items, examination gloves, and antiseptics.
The company also plans to export these products to North African and West African countries in order to expand its market share and ensure its long-term viability.
